She is a strong advocate for vocational opportunities within the industry, working with Scottish colleges to provide young people with hospitality experience, and is an Institute of Hospitality mentor for emerging talent.
Pamela has been passionate about Marketing since discovering it as part of her BSc Hons degree in Management Sciences. Her career in Marketing spans over 30 years and many industries. She is an Independent Board Director of the Scottish Orienteering Association.

Adam’s background is in business process management, although he is usually associated with the software side of things in the spa world. Having personally opened, operated, managed, supported, consulted and coached well over 450 spas in at least 27 countries, he brings all that accumulated knowledge together to provide a unique service for his clients. He is also Vice Chair of the UK Spa Association, and founder and host of the No.1 industry podcast all about creating a thriving business, cunningly titled “The Beauty Business Podcast”!
Naomi has worked as a marketing and communications specialist and leader for over 20 years across both B2C and B2B disciplines within PLC’s, SME’s and NGO’s (both public sector and trade bodies). Industry sectors include utilities (npower), DEFRA (WRAP), manufacturing (Burgess Pet Care), construction and distribution (SIG Plc), and most recently health/wellbeing (UK Spa Association). Naomi has particular expertise in marketing and growth strategy, brand and CVP creation, and development and implementation of a number of quantifiable large public awareness campaigns.
During the last two years she left the corporate world, to work as a marketing consultant. The momentum and growth of which has now led her to formally create and launch, together with her business partner – The Marketing Partners, offering start-ups, SME’s and PLC’s who don’t have this specialism in-house, marketing support and expertise.
Petra Clayton is founder and managing director of hotel marketing and communications agency Custard Communications which she launched in 2007 to deliver creative, strategic and measurable solutions to the hotel industry through clever communications.
She has her finger on the pulse of the industry’s challenges and commercial pressures, including the complex qualifications and training market. With more than 24 years in hospitality marketing, Petra is a frequent commentator on relationship marketing, PR, partnerships and brand development. Petra has also relished the opportunity to share her teaching and marketing expertise with the industry and is a trainer for the Master Innholders Aspiring Leaders Diploma. Custard has developed a reputation for clever, connected and curious thinking and helping hotels grow and build their business creatively.
Helena is the General Manger of the UKSA, a non-profit trade association, championing the positive contribution made by the spa industry to UK health, social and economic wellness and wellbeing, while driving continuous improvement in quality training, high standards, inclusiveness and professionalism at all levels within the trade.
With over 20 years’ experience in the spa and wider hospitality industry, Helena has a diverse range of long term success and accolades, formerly as pre-opening Director of Spa, at The Spa at The Midland in Manchester where she developed the 22 times multi-award winning spa through a strategic annual plan and a dedication to guest experience. Helena has twice won the World Luxury Spa Awards “Best Spa Manager”, and she says that she joined the spa industry because she wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives, each and every day and it is with that consistently in mind that has driven her success.
Director of Commercial Spa Strategies; leading spa consultant and industry commentator: Liz has spent 30 years in the wellness industry as fitness leader, sales manager and spa director. Previous roles include Spa Director at Rockliffe Hall and National Spa Manager for Virgin Active.
More recently guiding the critical launch period of Swinton Country Club and Spa; The Falls Spa at Lodore Falls Hotel and The Garden Spa in Warrington. Liz is now working with Guisborough Hall and also providing strategic business review sessions for existing spas to improve hotel integration and financial performance.
Daphne is Chief Spa Spy and founder of the Good Spa Guide. Having worked as both a medical journalist and a travel writer Daphne combined both her interests when she launched the Good Spa Guide in 2006. Daphne has reviewed over 100 UK spas and written about spas in more than a dozen countries. The Good Spa Guide’s Bubble ratings™ have become the ‘go to’ source of spa information for consumers.
Daphne writes under the name Sybaritic Spy as she likes the good things in life. Her favourite spas offer warm treatment beds, fragrant steam rooms, and therapists who really listen. The Good Spa Guide carries out regular research among consumers and offers interesting insights into why consumers go to spas, what they love about spas and what would make them go more often.

Roddy has over 40 years in the industry, with a wealth of experience across the luxury hotel and resort markets, currently a non-executive Director at The Feversham Arms & Verbena Spa in North Yorkshire. During his time in the corporate world roles he undertook were a Regional Manager with Hand Picked Hotels, and General Manager at the 5-star Cameron House on Loch Lomond.
Roddy is passionate about quality and the total customer experience. He has spent much of the last 10 years delivering numerous highly successful business improvement programmes through creative thinking, independent evaluation and a personal approach. After discovering a niche in the marketplace, he founded Hotelfone in 2011 to support telephone demand for hotels, restaurants and spas. Now his sole focus is “How to improve your business through demand management”.
Dan has over twenty years’ experience in the hospitality and tourism industry and the last eleven at Langdale. He has been part of the team behind the £10m development of Brimstone Hotel, Brimstone Spa and Stove Restaurant, and which has quickly gained a reputation one of the most sought after destinations in the region.
Dan is also a director of the Destination Management Organisation for the region, Cumbria Tourism.
